Educational Technology Philosophy
I like to think of Educational Technology as the use of technology to teach the subject. Technology does not replace teaching it only enhances teaching/learning. We should never let technology replace a good teacher or professor and we should never expect to learn everything just because we have technology. We should let the technology assist in the learning process and allow for all of us to construct our own meaning in turn learning the subject matter.
According to R.C. Richey, as cited on Wikipedia, "educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources." (Wikipedia, 2010 & Richey, R.C. (2008). Reflections on the 2008 AECT Definitions of the Field. TechTrends. 52(1) 24-25)
